Just out of interest I understood the pit stop patch will NOT let you Shift/R on track? Maybe there is a new version.

Hi !

The "Save-Pitstop-Patch" is not a patch. It is only a special "handmade" methode to make "Shift+R" in pit-area without place the car on track, near the racing-line. With this "patch" your car is in the pit after use in this area a "Shift+R". Only in pit-area you will see a difference.

We use a special "minrace.lp" file. This file is special contructed for make "Shift+R" in pitarea. This file is needed for all clients in the trackfolder. The old minrace.lp-file must override by the new one. The AI will not further work with the new "minrace.lp". So save the original minrace.lp-file is needed for go back to AI-racing.

This has nothing to do with any patch from brrr (Petteri).

Greetings

Achim

P.S.: Special instructions for use SPP (Save-Pitstop-Patch) will follow. First we must construct all the files for the GT-championsship.

Hi GT-Mod Rennleitung!

Thomas

Thomas, I know Your intention is not to have an unsportive advantage if You would select different cars during the season, but it is a general decision and rule.
It is intented to offer a race series under most sportive conditions. The chassis choise is free, but fix for the season.
The GT mod got cars of different performance on different tracks. If car choice is free during the season, a driver could have an advantage to take a car with high topspeed for tracks like Le Mans and cars with top handling on tracks like Nürburgring. This wasn't possible in real life and imho it's a fair part of a simulated race series to stick to the choosen chassis.
Of course GPL is a game ( "...some call is simulation..." ),
but the competition among us is real and isn't it ( the competition ) an important part of the challenge we are aiming for ?
In any sport people want to compete under regular conditions to find the champion at the end. In our case the fastest and most steady driver over the season.
Would it be a fair condition to have the choice to pick up the car with best specifications for a special track ?
That's why the GT admins decided for a free but season fixed
car choice.
Other benefits are that we can recognize our direct opponents much better under race conditions and all drivers are a lot more familiar with their cars not at last what safety concerns.

In a sum it is fair for the competition and better for safety.

How should we punish if someone brakes this rule ?

Using a different chassis is a intentional violation of an important general rule. So I would vote for a DQ.

But I am sure that we all will take the challenge of the decision before the season starts. With witch car will I have the best performance through the season ?
It will take some time to find out, but this will force us to be best prepared for a hopefully exiting GT season with this wonderful Mod.

Wolfgang

Like Achim said, it isn't brr's patch, only a little adjustment on the minrace.lp and /or maxrace.lp.
Of course shiftR on the track is further possible.
The safe-pitstop-patch ( SPP ) will be posted for the actual tracks and they are easy to use without any harm for Your GPL installation ( tested in our former league for years ).

We decided to run the races in "int-long" mod and insure that all drivers stick to the race as long as possible, even if they made a mistake or have bad luck. But everyone should be as careful as in pro mod, so You have only one shiftR on the track ( without pitstop penalty ) and You may continue racing imidiatly after this single shiftR.
Other problems with the car may only be solved in the pits, like in real races and only if You are able to reach the pits !

This all shall increase the endurance character of the series and You will find it a very authentic atmosphere to come back into race via the regular pitlane exit instead of being thrown onto the S/F straight like default GPL does.
You can shifR as soon as You stand still without loosing time if the track behind You is free - as You know from default GPL. The car will be repaired with new tires and the fuel that You've adjusted in Your setup.
Pitting in and out must be carefully with a safe speed and shifR shall be made at the own pitboard to have clean pitstops.

Hi Wolfgang,

thank you for your quick response.

I'm known for not switching cars all the time during a season to gain an advantage because of the next track's characteristics. I was just surprised about this additional restriction to one chassis compared to the less strict restrictions in the other cups. The reasons for the restrictions in the GT-Cup are understandable for me. I was just thinking about sacrificing some championship points for getting a brand new shiny car from time to time. Thank you for making clear that (un)deliberate breach of this rule is considered as a serious violation resulting in red card penalties but not tolerated to "guest starter conditions". So I just need to find two things now:
1. More spare time for training before the first liga race date to make a wise chassis decision.
2. More spare time to participate open server races somewhere else to get my racing fix with one of the other chassis but the one choosen.

Anyone already made his chassis decision?

Regards, Looking forward for the races!

Question,
Is it (because of the legal Shift-R in the pit) allowed to run with low fuell?
Example - Targa 1 lap fuell and 2 pitstops??

Zitat von Tom Schlosser:
Anyone already made his chassis

I have signed up with the Ferrari Team for 2011 (65-67-GT mod)(not sure if I can/may run the 66's aswell?)

Congratulations and thanks for Hosting/running the GT-mod !!

Greetings Pedro

Of course it is allowed to have strategic pitstops if someone thinks it will be an advantage to have a fuel strategy.
The Targa race will be under special conditions (rally - mod ) as You can read in the announcement thread. There will be no SPP for Targa.

README

SAFE PITSTOP PATCH for GRAND PRIX LEGENDS
=============================================

---------------------------------------------
GERMAN
---------------------------------------------

-------------------------------

-> download: GT Veranstaltungen [GT events]

----------------------------------------------
ENGLISH
----------------------------------------------
Unpack the SAFE PITSTOP PATCH into your track folder.
Let Windows overwrite the "maxrace.lp".

A backup of the original "maxrace.lp" is included.
The backup is named "maxrace_ORIGINAL.lp".
If you want to race against the AI (artificial intelligence) again,
you have to restore the original file.
To do so, just delete the patched maxrace.lp and rename the maxrace_ORIGINAL.lp to maxrace.lp.

What is the SAFE PIT STOP PATCH:

I have a question about the GT Cup Rules.
The interest for the GT cup seems to be high, a full grid in the first race.
The Point system is: 9-6-4-3-2-1

How is the the points awarded if there are two grids?
Does both grids get the same points or are the races merged so the racetime decides your position.
Or is it done in another way?

Hi Anders,

you are right. The first race had more drivers than expected. ATM some concepts are being developed to find a good solution in case we really have 2 grids.
